You Need It, We Provide It

Have you ever been without air conditioning on a hot, June summer day with a 100-degree heat index? Unfortunately, the residents of Norman Housing Authority had to endure that experience.

On the morning of June 16th, Jackson Mechanical, the contractor for Norman Housing Authority, reached out to HSI Comfort’s outside salesman, Daniel Mason, to help them solve this problem. Jackson Mechanical needed a 100 ton chiller and they needed it that day.

Daniel’s knowledge of Quantech’s Need It Now program saved the day. He was able to order a the chiller and have it delivered to the site that evening. With the weekend fast approaching and forecasted to be in the upper 90s everyday, you can imagine how grateful the residents were to have cool air!

UTOPIA IVX DC Inverter

There are multiple advantages to using the Hitachi Compressor - Utopia IVX DC Inverter. The first advantage is that these series provide customers with improved comfort and energy saving techniques. The second advantage is when there are sudden additions or changes, they are quickly and easily handled by adding remote control units. Additionally, it simplifies the construction steps and shortens construction time by reducing the number of units that are being used.

When used as an individual operating function, it allows air conditioning to work in many different rooms, with different layouts for maximum comfort.

The UTOPIA IVX Series are perfect for customers who need more than their current packaged air conditioning systems but aren’t interested in multi-split system air conditioners.

Managing Humidity Issues in Spaces

A number of constraints can affect your space humidity. Proper ventilation, building placement, envelope, and design constraints all play a major role in the functional condition of a space. HSI Comfort has seen a rise in concerns with respect to space humidity and as a result, we felt it important to point out some of the many issues that are both within and outside of our control as industry experts. The design may be adequate, the install successful, and yet we may still see issues. Where does the moisture come from, and how do we remove it… These are probably the two most important concerns when managing humidity issues.

For relative humidity to increase in the space, we either need to release it (i.e. a steam generation, high occupant load, any large latent source) or bring it in (i.e unconditioned outdoor air). Fortunately, both of these are controllable inputs. We can manage outdoor airflow and account for latent load in the space. Typically, these are common considerations, but there are other conditions too (see infiltration and intrusion). There are few indoor spaces where humidity control is as problematic as operating rooms. The design considerations we make here can be applied to almost any space to encourage the best possible humidity control for any work area. With all the questions we have received lately, this seems like a great opportunity to share the below article and encourage all our customers to become more familiar with these issues.
