Hydronic Systems, Inc. and the Smardt Chiller Group have entered into a partnership where Hydronic Systems is the official manufacturing sales representative for the company’s chillers in Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.

After working together to place Smardt chillers in the downtown Tulsa, Okla., library, Marcos Awad, Application Sales Engineer for Smardt, and Mark Boozer, President of Hydronic Systems, began talking about a business arrangement. “We were impressed with the quality of the Smardt products and aware that the manufacturer did not have an official sales representative serving our territory. One thing led to another and we presented Smardt with a business plan. Everything just fell into place from there,” said Boozer.

“After working with Hydronic Systems vice president, Brian Boozer, on the Tulsa project I could see he was a very good and cooperative spirit. He was very proactive in securing the best product solution for the customer. Their proposal was presented in a straight forward manner that laid out well what we could expect. After a long discussion between Mark, our general manager, Richard Taft, and I knew this was a match,” recalled Awad.

Smardt was founded in Montreal, Canada in 2005 to focus on oil-free centrifugal chillers and has since become the world leader in oil-free chiller efficiency. The Smardt Chiller Group was established to maximize the customer benefits of the Turbocor oil-free centrifugal compressor technology in chiller performance. Not only do Smardt chillers drive down the whole life costs of ownership, but the equipment also reduces the carbon footprint of the end user which makes a major contribution to the future of the environment. Smardt opened a factory in Plattsburgh, New York in 2010.

“The Smardt Chiller is a great product and the sales team is looking forward to talking with engineers about the benefit of including this equipment in their plans,” says Mark Boozer, adding, “We will be sending our technicians to train on installation and maintenance of the Smardt chillers so we can be there from start to finish on every Smardt job.”

Features of the Smardt chillers include:

A global reach with a single focus. The heart of every Smardt chiller is its Turbocor oil-free centrifugal compressors that integrate rugged magnetic bearings systems with variable-speed drive, high-efficiency centrifugal compression and on-board digital electronics to achieve a revolutionary leap in part-load energy efficiency.

A quantum leap in energy efficiency. All Smardt chillers, whether water‑cooled or air‑cooled, are designed to optimize the performance of oil-free centrifugal compressors from Danfoss Turbocor Compressors, Inc. Oil-free magnetic bearings and variable-speed drives deliver better IPLV efficiencies than conventional oil-lubricated centrifugal, reciprocating, scroll and screw compressors.

Decades of development. The Smardt engineering team has many members with extensive experience developing the original Turbocor compressor technology. The team came together to bring a definitive high-performance range of water-cooled and air-cooled oil-free centrifugal chillers to the market, and to make sure each Smardt chiller saves its owners money in operating and maintenance costs with high reliability and redundancy that practically removes mechanical risk altogether.

Algorithms enhance the intelligence built-in to each compressor to achieve further efficiencies across operating maps and optimizes intrinsic part-load efficiencies to deliver integrated chiller efficiencies.
